45 Emotional overload

I felt him come into the Hall at the far end, his strong emotions filling the space between him and me.
Anger filled his mind. There was hatred too and bubbling underneath all that was violence, a violence where he laughed as he slaughtered.
I sagged further.
"What are you two here for now? It's late, there's no formal occasion,  and who is that!" He bellowed pointing his stick in my direction, " why have you brought her?"
He marched towards us and my breath left my body, I sank to the floor hoping to make myself as small as possible. I waited for the beating.
"Get up off the floor you stupid girl!" I couldn't move even if I wanted too, "I said get up! Now!" The menace in his presence grew in intensity. There was a rage which was beyond anything I'd felt. No animal was like this. No animal exhibited these emotions. I could only draw on my experiences as a child; the beatings, the begging, the kneeling and the hot iron as it touched my flesh. Everything was swimming in my head. I wanted to pass out but my instincts kept me awake.
"If not I'll make you...." He bellowed as he came within range.
That was it, I could take no more. With the last of my inner strength I lifted myself up off the floor, spun and ran. Reaching for my fighting knives I pulled them out of their sheaths. If I had to kill to get away, then I would.
All I could hear was shouting coming from the Hall. Hao Yang and his father were shouting at one another,  the levels getting more and more heated.
It was then the Second Master came outside and yelled, "let her pass, don't get in her way. She's a formidable warrior, let her through I said! Don't any of you try and be heroes!"
A young man stood in front of me, sword out, a youthful lust for heroics written on his face. I let out the roar of attack and ran full tilt at him, slid between his legs and slashed his thigh and, without a backward glance, I was gone.
I kept up running at a steady speed until I reached the house. I found my essentials and taking a small amount of vegetables and the piece of meat I'd cured, I wrapped it all in my bundle sack, picked up two good fur pelts and tied them in a roll. I removed my clothes society had given and donned my skins and boots. Checking all was tidy, I left.
I was going back to the wilderness and re-establish my position. I had been away from home too long.
